What is SEED?
A two-year global service program by MCC for young adults to live, serve, and grow in communities worldwide.
SEED in Zimbabwe
Participants serve in Bulawayo and surrounding communities, working in areas such as peacebuilding, food security, and community development.
SEED Zimbabwe is not about parachuting in with answers. It is about walking alongside communities, learning, contributing, and being changed by the experience.
How SEED Works
Accompaniment
Walking alongside communities ,not leading, not fixing, but being present and learning together.
Service
Responding to real needs identified by communities and partner organizations, not by outside assumptions.
Reflection
Structured time to process experiences, challenge assumptions, and grow in self-awareness.
Peacebuilding
Engaging in the long, slow work of healing and reconciliation in communities affected by trauma and injustice.
Rooted in Something Bigger
SEED is rooted in Christian values and the Mennonite tradition of peace and service. Participants engage in prayer, devotionals, reflection, and church life as part of their experience.
Part of Something Worldwide
SEED operates in multiple countries and brings together diverse participants from different backgrounds. Zimbabwe is one placement within a global program that has shaped thousands of young adults over decades.
